Boostball Keto Range

In 2020 Boostball set out on a new mission. We had something we wanted to release into the world to bridge the gap in the market. It comes as no surprise that the Ketogenic Diet would soon make it’s way across the pond from the US where the market has been huge for some years now. We knew the benefits of this diet, way beyond just weight loss, so we wanted to use our platform to bring this into the UK. Boostball is right at the forefront of the Keto market in the UK & we are so excited to share our products with the world.

Now, we know that there’s a lot of noise out there when it comes to the Keto Diet.

We wanted to make things a little clearer to understand.

In a nutshell, ketosis is your body’s state when it starts using fat for energy, instead of using glucose (carbs, sugar, etc). When glucose is reduced in the body, it will burn fat & produce ketones. Once ketones rise to a certain level in the bloodstream, you have entered ketosis. Essentially, when your body burns fat, it loses fat! But there are a huge array of benefits the Keto Diet can support additionally.

So, what should a Keto Diet include food-wise?

We believe the principals of the keto diet have huge benefits on our everyday health, though the principals should be a little cleaner than you would imagine at first glance.

A standard Keto Diet is structured with following food groups:

  • High Healthy Fat
  • Moderate Protein
  • Low Carbohydrates

Though these food groups are clear, we want to take you a little deeper to understand the difference between a standard keto diet & an optimised keto diet with clean foods. Like any healthy lifestyle, whole foods are important to ensure the body retains the necessary nutrients & it is exactly the same with the Keto regime. Artificial nasties should not become your new go-to to bring your carb levels down & if you want to sustain good health.

The idea is to avoid high-glycaemic index foods, including starchy vegetables & all forms of sugar, but the key is to keep it natural. Eating foods that spike your blood sugar levels & cause your body to raise insulin production is not healthy for you. Neither are artificial alternatives like Aspartame, Saccharin, etc.

Benefits of the Keto Diet

Though it seems that maybe the Keto Diet is a reasonably new “fad”, this couldn’t be further from the truth! It was originally created in the 1920’s to treat epilepsy & it’s still used today for various treatments of neurological disorders & cancer, additionally to an aid for weight loss.

Here is a list of the many science-backed benefits:

  • Increased energy & well-being levels
  • A greater proportion of weight loss comes from the abdominal cavity
  • Triglycerides tend to drop drastically
  • Improvement of heart health
  • Increased level of the good cholesterol
  • Reduced level of blood sugar & insulin levels: aiding & even reversing diabetes
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Boosts brain function
  • Improve gut health and bowel disorders
  • May prevent and fight some types of cancer
  • Therapeutic for many brain disorders such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease & Alzheimer’s

KETO: FOODS TO AVOID

The foods below, though some very clean – actually prevent a state of ketosis.

  • High sugar fruits (such as apples, oranges, etc)
  • Sugar (such as honey, maple syrup, agave syrup, etc)
  • Root vegetables (such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc)
  • Items made with flour (such as breads, crackers, bagels, pasta, etc)
  • Grains (such as wheat, corn, rice, etc)
  • Sweetened drinks (such as flavoured water, artificial energy drinks, fizzy drinks, diet fizzy drinks, etc)
  • All processed foods

KETO: LET’S DISCUSS DAIRY

Most of us LOVE dairy products in all shapes & forms, though it’s possible that skipping or reducing them in our diet could speed up weight loss and health benefits. This is because dairy products contain not only milk sugar (lactose), but also milk protein (casein), which stimulates insulin secretion more than many other types of protein & can actually trigger overeating.

You can see a full shopping list we have devised for you which outlines a huge array of go-to foods that will optimise your state of ketosis naturally & healthily.

KETO: TOP TIPS

Drink lots of fluids (1.5 – 2 litres depending on body weight) & get enough natural Celtic sea salt or Pink Himalayan Salt (do not use table salt), especially during the first week, to minimise symptoms of the initial “keto flu”.

Add a branch chain amino acid to your keto diet to aid any muscle soreness after training & support with energy.

Weighted resistance training compliments a Keto diet very well, though you can include other activities that you enjoy such as walking, jogging & yoga.

Boostball Keto Ready-to-Drink Shakes

All of the Boostball Keto Range have been created with all of the above in mind; they are packed with nutritional value, they’re all vegan, they keep to the keto principals, with no compromise on taste & they satiate well while curbing sweet cravings too.

We are the first brand to launch a Keto Ready-to-Drink in the UK & we are the first brand to launch a Keto product into UK Supermarkets. This is just the beginning of this exciting venture, which we hope you will join us for?
